Until recently, people thought that the earth was as flat as a table. But, it has been proved beyond reasonable doubt that the earth is spherical in shape. It is slightly flattened at the poles to give a nearly spherical shape hence the earths shape is described as a “Geoid” meaning the earths’ shape.

The size of the earth is about 443 million square kilometres hence it is the fifth largest planet in the solar system.

The earth has the following important kilometres hence it is the fifth largest planet in the solar system,

The earth has the following important dimensions;

  1. Equatorial circumference —– 40,085km
  2. Equatorial diameter —–12, 762km
  3. Polar Circumference —–39,955km
  4. Polar diameter —–12,722km
